on Saturday, 29/03/1879,

over 13 boards, 2 games per board (time permitting).

 

The Manchester Athenaeum Chess Club (not to be confused with the Manchester Chess Club) had in 1878 played against Bradford (see 1878 Bradford v Manchester Athenaeum).  On that occasion Bradford had scored approximately 42%.  In this match Leeds managed only 35%.
